Flip has been my primary go-to app for self-publishing Apple Watch apps when I first became immersed into Watch development.
It allows me to publish my Watch apps without needing to upload them to the App Store. Rather, Flip takes my Watch apps, converts them into an Apple Watch app, and uploads it to the Watch to test it on my Apple Watch. This is all managed automatically through the app with little-to-no interaction required.
So, how does it work?

One thing that I do find annoying when using Flip, is the fact that the app does not expose any information in the screenshot it takes of the built Watch app. This means that developers have to take screenshots of their apps by hand, or alternatively, send the screenshot of the generated Watch app, if they want to be 100% sure they cover every inch of the new Watch app.
Conclusion
Flip is a solid app for converting other types of apps into Apple Watch apps, but the process is a bit messy. I’d recommend using the generated Apple Watch app from Apple Watch App Store if you’re already familiar with it.

I’m on Linux and I’m just trying to understand some things about shared libraries and their loading time.
If I have a shared library foo.so, is it loaded when the executable foo is run?
What if foo is not compiled into an executable but just a stand-alone program that is run with a main function?
When foo is run, does it create the.so file and then load it once it is done?
Or is the.so file loaded once the executable foo is run and then used during the execution?

It’s loaded on first use. Load is a system call.
If you make foo an executable, it will create the.so.
You can tell if it’s an executable by using the -Wl flag to gcc/ld. That will give you a warning. That should point you to where foo is using the lib, and there’s a segfault.
To test this, you can build your foo app using gcc -c foo.c -Wl -static -o foo.o and then do a strace -f -e open foo.o. You should see a list of call look something like:
open(“foo.so”, O_RDONLY) = 3
If you look at the open syscall, you should see that the L is O_RDONLY.
If you use gcc -shared foo.c -o foo.so, you should see:
