An Asheville lawn and garden business that was once a local landmark has closed it’s doors, but is it gone for good?

Bob Lawrence Power Equipment was open for years on Broadway at the Five Points Intersection in North Asheville. But it closed, and an apartment complex is under construction there.

“Now that their Broadway building is toast, will they be opening up in another location soon?” Mark Merlin wrote to Ask 13. “I am from East Asheville and have been using them for years. Help!”

Well, there’s good news and bad.

Bob Lawrence is still in business, sort of. It’s now called Slope Solutions and moved to Sweeten Creek Road. But, the business no longer provides parts and service for all types of small engine equipment. Slope Solutions only sells and services a high-end brand of tractor called a Ventrac.

The folks there said small engine repair is almost none existent now. Most small power equipment has gone electric or is designed to have a short life span, so it’s thrown away
