Architectural Document Format (ADF)
ADF is an open XML-based standard file format for 2D and 3D architectural drawings, which is supported by numerous software and hardware applications. Due to the flexibility of its architecture, an ADF application can be extended by simply writing your own custom controls, which can be hosted in their own pages within the same application, or by extending the ADF library itself. The core services provided by the ADF are:

One of the main advantages of ADF compared to CADD or CATIA is that its design makes it very easy to integrate with other applications, whether those applications are written in C++, Java, Python, Ruby, or any other language.
A limitation of ADF, at least in the past, is that its core does not yet fully support the ease of use and extensibility of other CAD systems, such as SOLIDWORKS, MagicsCAD, and Creo.
The current release of the ADF standard was announced on August 2, 2006.
